Transformation
When working on yourself, the goal should be transformation rather than knowledge.
Transformation can result from an event (often a traumatic one) or it can happen over time.
Unassisted, a transformation over time is very gradual. However, with deliberate effort it can happen quickly. A daily 1% improvement over a year results in a 37x improvement!
Transformation comes from:
- critical reflection
- critical study and writing
- social discourse
- how quickly you start making changes
- altered states of consciousness
Critical Reflection
Critical Study and Writing
Social Discourse
It seems to me that a blog checks all three of these boxes by:
- giving you a chance to reflect
- forcing you to organize your thoughts when you write
- putting you in a teaching mindset, further testing your understanding
- allowing discourse through comments or discussions with those who read
Rate of Application
When you learn something you want to implement in your life, you shouldn't wait. Start making the changes that day.
Altered States of Consciousness
Meditation and hypnosis can accelerate transformation.
Have I been doing any of these?
Not really. Which is actually exciting because just going from 0 to 1 on these will bring massive changes.
Changes to make
Make regular posts to this blog. Journal, think, and write. Discuss thoughts with Chuck or friends.
Implement what I post about.
Meditate for 10 minutes by choosing a time/trigger. "Before noon" was a great trigger when I was exercising at 12, but I need a new one. Lets try "after AG1" and see how that goes.
I have some resistance to hypnosis. Maybe it's the time commitment (15-30 min), or me tending to fall asleep, or me feeling like it isn't "productive". With patience, there are likely great gains to be had here over time. Mid afternoon might be a good time. Let's set an alarm for 4 and see how that goes.
